  • the facilities for our local sports team definitely need a lot of attention. We have a fantastic amount of people who want to represent this town in sport and take pride in wearing a kit that that bears it's name. It's about time Abergele provided a decent facility for those who want to be active, enjoy their spare time and take their sport seriously.

  • I support the call for a football pitch and infrastructure. I think we need to offer as many sporting facilities as possible to support health and wellbeing.

  • Maybe a joint senior/junior football club facility could carry more weight for less stress?

  • Completely agree!
Abergele men's FC have worked extremely hard over the past decade or so to get to where they are today and definitely deserve the facilities to continue to progress.
More importantly, the youth of Abergele also need facilities in order for the next generation of local footballers to flourish. Having a stable base for the adults now will give the local children games to go and watch on the weekend and help generate a community feel good feeling.
I find it appalling that Sunday league teams at the lowest level on the Wirral have superior facilities to that available to a team in the 3rd tier of the Welsh football pyramid.
There is every chance of the men's football team Being promoted further over the coming years, it would by a crying shame for the local community not be able to get behind them and be a part of their success.

  • Couldn't agree more. Abergele has always been successful in football yet our facilities are very poor. The cricket club and rugby club have their own building, football teams have nothing, a container when I used to play, shocking really.

  • This is a fantastic idea! It will benefit everyone in the community. Currently there is nowhere for men or children's football to compete in any leagues with the acceptable requirements. Abergele Towns mens team are playing there home games in Llandudno, and if it wasn't for them actually letting us use there pitch there would be NO men's team. Personally I think it's a disgrace that a town as big as Abergele doesn't have any facilities to accommodate football of all ages.

  • I think this is really important!

  • This is something that is definitely needed, the town should be proud to have a team playing at a good standard and should be offering support instead of forcing the team to play in Llandudno.
Having a team a a high standard with good facilities would also benefit youngsters progress and give them a platform to improve their skills. The town should be getting behind the football team like they have done with the rugby team which has seen them become more successful.

  • This is a brilliant idea... For such a big town which also has a high school I feel this is essential for the town. It will not only help the town in terms of visitors and exposure with the football team and what publicity they bring for the town but also help the next generation of children who want play football, progress and be able to fulfil their potential with the adequate facilities.

The current senior team play in the Welsh alliance league, which is the 3rd tier in the Welsh football pyramid which is a very good standard. This is something the town should be proud of and be able to support on a weekly basis.

  • Huge importance for Abergele and its community! No football facilities for children or adult football teams. The senior football team are currently having to play in Llandudno for their home games as a community we should be able to provide our home squad the facilities to play in their home town.

  • One of the most important things this town needs is a football pitch with the right facilities to hold Welsh alliance games. Not many people know that Abergele have a team in the Welsh alliance but are forced to play there games in Llandudno which is both a shame for the football team and the Abergele public in general.

  • Brilliant idea and is a must! There is no where for kids/youth/senior teams to even get changed! The senior squad has to play it's HOME games in Llandudno.. Abergele Rugby Club and Cricket Club have fully kitted out facilities yet there is nothing for the football teams in and around Abergele!
