Improve Tourist Numbers

There is nothing to draw tourists to the town any more. Without tourists the little shops won't survive. We need a market back again but a large one that attracts people.

  • TOURISTS WANT TO COME TO ABERGELE BUT THERE IS NOTHING THERE FOR THEM! We arrange private tours all over North Wales and bring a great deal of revenue to the area. Our groups have attended en mass the Gwrych Castle Open Days this year, every one of them and we have been overwhelmed by the effort and the work that is going on there by the Gwrych Castle Preservation Trust. Who are now jointly in partnership at last and able to do something with this wonderful estate to help it after years of ownership issues. The latest owners have made the Trust their partners and they are leasing the Estate to the Trust at last. We will be there encouring tourists to Abergele and bringing a lot of revenue to Abergele if the powers that be at Conwy Council will at last do something to support this magestic landmark and not keep dismissing it. Thousands of people are supporting the Trust and it is worldwide. We get visitors from overseas all the time asking to attend Gwrych Castle and now we can offer them something thanks to the Trust doing their events. We will be there again on the 23rd of August offering our support as tourists and booking coaches of tourists to attend all their events. Why is it that Conwy Council have not helped more and you now have your chance to do the right thing and to do all possible to back the Gwrych Castle Trust who are an organised and forward thinking Charity to further their aim and bring a landmark back to life in Abergele. Cannot praise their efforts enough and it's remarkable to see such hard work going on with Staff, Volunteers and Trustees. Who give their time freely to help Abergele. Back them please and let's get this show on the road. The Trust have the power to make a difference and they need you Conwy Council. So do we. My childhood holidays were spent in Abergele. Nothing there now and we want those good times back and relive our memories at Gwrych with our Grandchildren! Make it happen! Thank you.

  • Abergele needs to have a debate as to what, would draw tourists to this area. Things that might do this is assistance in developing the museum the trust part of Gwrych Castle. attracting a hotel such as premier in. This in the area of Mcdonalds as there is good access to A55, also develop the beach, also tourist advertisements promoting Abergele.

  • Gwrych Castle needs financial help for the proposed visitor centre. Already having successful open days and follow this theme through the town.

  • Funding is needed for Gwrych Castle Preservation Trust to carry on attracting visitors to the castle and for them to keeping on restoring past of the castle and grounds and open a visitors center and museum. The recent open days so just how many visitors could be attracted to the area if the castle was open more often.

  • Conwy Council need to urgently help to fund the Gwrych Castle projects underway. This is the largest number of visitors to Abergele as people now flock in their thousands already to events. Don't miss the boat again Conwy and put your full force into the Vistors Centre, Event venue and non profit Charity work going up there with the Gwrych Trust. It will bring an enormous revenue back to Abergele and help to rebuild the tourist trade of Abergele for certain.

  • Help restore Gwrych Castle with the castle trust and open the visitor centre with a new conservatory. Then well advertise it on the A55.

  • This is urgent to improve tourist numbers there is nothing for them to do. The beach doesnt help the town, the castle doesnt help the town as its closed off. The Market drew them in their thousands.

  • A castle.an iron age hill fort with awesome walks and views ..lots of history and a great wildlife beach .
Problem is no information no signage and little out of the box promotion .

  • Abergele needs an identity, a reason for people to visit.
There's an abundance of things going for Abergele, the beach, the walks, the castle, the churches, its history.
A information map could be produced leading the visitor around the town, with points of interest along the way. Introduce small information plaques on the side of buildings, the pavement etc

Why doesn't Abergele have a medieval theme, make the most of the castle and St Micheal's church, create a sculpture of a Abergele Knight or similar character/s and have a few placed around the town, visitors would go on the trail to find all the characters. Visitors would have to spend a few hours in the town and its something for both kids and olds to enjoy and it should attract some 'selfie' enthusiasts.
Remember Liverpool's Superlambanana from years ago. Sailsbury is doing something similar at the moment called Barons' Trail.

  • Definitely something needed to attract tourists here. Gwrych Castle should help, but more is needed. Perhaps encourage some more retailers here. Give people a reason to visit area. More events and facilities at Pentre Mawr and beach area.
