Screenshots from Abergele Place Plan social media toolkit

This example shows the potential reach of social media posts into the community - this post was seen by almost 600 people, many of whom wouldn’t have been following the page yet (at the time circa 400 likes on the page). The number of ‘likes’ on the actual post has boosted its reach for more people to see - great for promoting Place Plan events and news.
This example shows how asking the right questions will encourage conversation from your audience. The topic of Pentre Mawr park was very popular because it appealed to sports fans, dog walkers and families alike.
This screenshot shows how your audience will eventually begin to have independent conversations on your Place Plan page, with page administrators taking more of a moderator approach.

Gaining the support of local business people can boost the profile of your Place Plan. Most businesses in Abergele displayed posters, postcards and pinbadges in store but a mention and / or a photo on social media is a great bit of advertising for them too.  It adds to the sense of the Place Plan being a local initiative for local residents and businesses.

Finally, social media provides a great way to communicate and engage with people in the community but it should work hand-in-hand with other initiatives - like workshops - and with other materials such as posters and flyers.
